Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme ever with nearly €80 billion of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020) – in addition to the private investment that this money will attract. It promises more breakthroughs, discoveries and world-firsts by taking great ideas from the lab to the market.

Running from 2014 to 2020 , Horizon 2020 is the European Union’s new programme for research and innovation and is part of the drive to create new growth and jobs in Europe.

Horizon 2020 is a core part of Europe 2020 the Innovation Union and the European Research Area and is responding to the economic crisis to invest in future jobs and growth, addressing people’s concerns about their livelihoods, safety and environment and strengthening the EU’s global position in research, innovation and technology.

Our main areas of interest are Societal Challenges; specifically Heath, Demographic Change and Wellbeing.  During the first two years of Horizon 2020 (Work Programme for 2014/15), the EU will invest some €1 200 million in this Challenge. Other areas with an element of ICT will also be considered.
