This morning saw the launch of the Italy – Malta 2014 – 2020 programme at the Fortifications Museum in Valletta.
This is a cross-border programme which covers the Maltese Islands and several regions in Sicily. This programme aims to reinforce sustainable growth at the cross-border level with a particular focus on the Research & Innovation sectors, foster the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises, protect the environment as well as promoting actions which mitigate the effects of climate change whilst also addressing the area’s natural and man made risks.
The programme is co-financed by the European Regional Development fund (ERDF) and has a total budget of €, 31,940,390 of which €10,321,483 for the 2007 – 2013 period. In the past programming period the Italy-Malta Programme funded 25 projects with 53 Maltese beneficiaries.
Cyberspace Solutions has been involved in two projects under the Italy – Malta 2007 – 2013 programme
- Panacea – The Panacea project aims at promoting best practices for the sound scientific management of biodiversity assets with Maltese and Italian Marine protected areas.
- Resi – The RESI project aims at promoting the use of renewable energy in particular solar energy.
Beneficiaries of the Italy – Malta programme include; Local Authorities, Regional Authorities, District Authorities, SMEs, Graduates, Universities, Research Institutes, NGOs, Innovative Clusters, Micro Enterprises, Port Authorities, Public Administration and Entrepreneurs.
